Ochheuteal Beach

Serendipity Beach

Victory Beach

At over two kilometers, Victory beach is quite long but it is divided into two by a rocky point and a small hill. The section of Victory Beach that contains the Vietnam-Cambodia Monument (Victory Monument) is popular because it is quieter and more relaxed than Ochheuteal Beach and there are a few food beach bars and restaurants right on the sand. Victory Beach is a particularly good beach from which to view sunsets.

  

Sokha Beach

A good place to relax when you are in Cambodia is at Sokha Beach, Hihanoukville. The town of Sihanouk Ville is situated on the Gulf of Thailand in southern Cambodia. The beach is the most popular among travelers.

Otres Beach

Otres Beach is the next beach south of Ochheuteal and in many way resembles Ochheuteal. The road over the hill form Ochheuteal (Through Queen Hill Resort) allow easy access to Otres Beach and is raltivey new. Otres beach is largely undeveloped and often more secluded than the other tourist beaches of Sihanoukville. There are scattered grass umbrellas along the beach and few thatch roof beach bars and restaurants clustered toward near the end.

Scuba & Islands

These parts of the warm tropical ocean (consistently between 27-31c) are home to an astonishingvariety of amazing underwater creatures. From the splendeors of the lush coral feefs perpetually changing form and colors with the proliferation of life-forms and fishes that froloc around them to the monstrous yet peaceful Whale Shark, and the occasional visit of the majestic sunfish, each diving experience promises a different reward altogether. Good dive sites can be found around the islands such as Koh Rung Samloeum and Koh Rung within a two-hour boat trip of town, making for an easy day trip, but the best sites are around Koh Tang and Koh Prins. With scuba diving opportunities, there are several dive centers in Sihanouk Ville inclusing authorized PADI dive center. Most can organize, outfit and lead almost any sort of diving excursion from snorkeling trips and introductory scuba divers for experienced divers.

Koh Rong

The largest island near Sihanouk Ville covers almost 70 kilometers squares and about 2-3 hour boat trip from town. Koh Rung Island is sparsely populated with only four large villages offering at least 23 beaches and 2 waterfalls, surrounded by lushly vegetated, untouched tropical jungle and established footpaths. Three are many good scuba divines in this popular island to be enjoyed.

Koh Rung Samloem

The better scuba diving island, within daytrip distance, takes about 2 hours one way by local boat offering a home to a small fishing village, three major beaches and several minor beaches, including some very nice sheltered beaches on the nice sheltered beaches on the north side near Koh Kong. The rocky reefs around both islands host a variety of marine life in both shallow waters and in depths up to 18 meters. The rustic bungalows are available on couple of the beaches. The west side of the island is the best diving and visibility place species sightings include cobia, fish, puffer, moray eels, crabs, octopus, rays, nudibranch, cuttlefish, parrotfish, scorpion fish, lion fish, barracuda, yellow goatfish and so on.

Koh Kon

Koh Kon Island is a small island locating just off the north tip of Koh Rung Samloem. Rocky and coral encrusted outcrops on the west and south sides of the island offering a shelter of corals and marine life including anemones, boxfish, parrot fish, yellow goat fish, snappers, stingrays, moray eels and cat sharks.

Koh Tang, Koh Prins, Koh Poulou Wai

For 4-8 hour boat trip to the southwest of town, the distance normally requires at least a night’s stay. With the rocky reef, depths of 15-40m and much better visibility than reefs closer to shore, ranging from 10-30m, usually around 15m. Koh Prins exists two shipwrecks to the northwest at 30-40m and Koh Tang is a favorite diver’s destination, The island plays a major role in the ‘Mayaguez incident’ and still shows the scaring of the May 1975 batle betweenthe American and Khmer Rouge forces. The surrounding waters give several reefs and outcroppings displaying a particularly colorful variety of hard and soft corals, and abundance of other marine lives, and consistently good abundance of other marine lives, and consistently good visibility. 

Water Sports, Boating & Fishing

The trip you are interested in just takes 40 minute to 2 hours by boat to somewhere surrounded by clear emerald green water. These rain forested Island set in the azure tropical water off the Bay of Sihanouk Ville also have good snorkeling water and some of the best beaches in the world, pristine white sand and not over-crowded. A couple of nearby islands have rustic beach bungalows and restaurants. Diving in Cambodia offers a sense of adventure over diving elsewhere in the region. For what you want a more enjoyable dive and not seeing too much of other divers’ bubbles, Cambodia is the place to come to for true diving pleasures. Many dive companies in Cambodia offer authorized PADI and SSI courses from the beginner to instructor.

Kbal Chhay Waterfalls

It is the serial waterfalls (3-5 meters) and chutes on the Prek Tuk Sap River. During the dry season (November-June), the falls can be little more than a trickle, but the wet season falls can be quite powerful. The area is slowly being developed and there are now drink stands, food stalls and covered picnic areas available, Lots of local picnickers arrive on the weekends. It’s about a 30-minute ride from downtown to the falls. We take route 4 north to the ‘Kbal Chay’ sign near mile marker 217, about 1km north of the anchor and globe monument.

Prey Nup Mangrove Forest/Bird Watching

The mangrove forest where recently begun running tours to a large forest preserve at ocean edge in Prey Nup district north of Shihanouk Ville town offers a unique sight at delicate and endangered ecosystem and excellent bird watching opportunities. Species sighting include painted and Milky Storks, Kingfishers, Kites and Egrets.

Ream National Park

Officially called Preah Sihanouk National Park, the park gas become known as “Ream” because it is located in the Ream commune. The park was established in 1993, inaugurated in March 1995, and encompasses 21,000 hectares of coastal area including sandy beaches, mangrove forests, the PrekTuk Sap, off-shore coral reefs and two islands (Koh Thmei, Koh Ses and Koh Takiev). Despire rarely seen, the Park provides refuge for such species and macaques, sun bear, dolphins, mouse deer, pangolin and over a hundred species of birds and there is even rumored to be a tiger.
